Satan is a corruption of the egyptian deity Seth. The egyptian gods had »avatars« which were called the »Ani«. Osiris-Ani was one of them, and seth-ani was another. Ani was often written as »An«, giving »Seth-an«. He was also the biblical snake in the garden.
