Everybody looks at it, everybody wants it, everybody wants to be it. Everybody sees beauty in a different place, in a different person. I might see beauty where you see ugliness. I might hear beauty where you hear noise.
On the principle of Berkeley's 'The Tree in the Quad' (or rather, the answer to it), does the eye of God – having decided that a thing deserves to be called beautiful – then keep it in existence as an object of beauty for ever? For ref, the answer ran as follows:
