Useless, I admit, but still neat.
Toy – a plaything for a child, a set of blocks or Legos, a top, matchbox cars.
The old kind are the best--ones where the toy is just a prop, and the real play happens in the mind of the player. Sure, your big, honking space fighter playset with the flashing LEDs and the automatic explosion sounds is cool right now, but what happens when you get bored of fighting exploding spaceships? Plain old wooden blocks (or their high-tech plastic cousins, the Legos) may be the best ever devised.
A toy is a small object that makes you happy, occupies your mind, and distracts your worries.
You say you're a man now, right? All grown up, right? But still, when you unpack the latest techno-toy cellphone, PDA, GPS or whatever and smell that wonderful new electronics smell, don't tell me you don't feel exactly the same as you did when you got that new toy your grandma bought you for your seventh birthday.
It is said that language is mightier than the sword, and that knowlege is power. Nonsense. Language is the world's most wonderful toy, and knowledge is fun.
